Chatfield Campground

Reservations may be made at www.cpw.state.co.us or by calling 303-470-1144 The Chatfield Campground has four loops to choose from for individual camping, and a well-designed group area for larger gatherings. All of the 197 sites have electricity; 121 have water and sewer connections as well. Fire rings with grills and picnic tables are at every site, also, and are in great condition and extremely well kept. We were impressed with the grooming and cleaning of each site. Shower houses ($), rest rooms, and water hydrants are located throughout the campgrounds, and laundry facilities ($) are also available. Playgrounds and horse shoe pits are throughout the area. We camped in the C-Loop and had a great view of the hot air balloon launch pad and gorgeous mountain sunsets. We enjoyed balloons floating peacefully on both mornings, and rested contentedly in the picturesque sunsets in the evenings. Several trails are available to hike right from the campgrounds, so we took advantage of getting some exercise as well.  The campground was quiet throughout the night, and we were so glad to have stayed there. The sewage dump station is located near the entrance/exit of the campgrounds and provides two waste dumps. Potable water and a dumpster are also available there. Registered guests may use this facility for no charge. Others must pay a fee.
