Wildlife out in the wild….

It is not uncommon to see beautiful wild flowers and wild animals while hiking in the state parks. Please observe the posted regulations. Do not pick the plants or disrupt the foliage. Allow others to enjoy it after you. Absolutely do not feed any animals or approach injured animals. These rules are for your protection and the well-being of the wild life.

  • See which trails have picnic tables, resting benches, and views of the lake.
  • See if the trail has water spigots or restrooms.

Helpful Tips:

  • Cooling off while hikingWear sturdy shoes and a brimmed hat.
  • Bring your cell phone and camera.
  • Use insect repellent and sun screen.
  • Dress in layers and carry rain gear if possible.
  • Carry water and snacks with you in case you need them.
  • If hiking with your pet, use a leash, clean up the poop, and be conscious of their temperature. A dip in the lake may be needed.
