Boat Rentals

Renting a watercraft is the ideal way to experience Lake Monroe. Four Winds Boat Rentals (812-824- 2628) offers wave runners, speed boats, deck boats, pontoons, party yachts and hobie cats so you can be accommodated no matter how many are in your group. You can even rent a tube to pull for extra enjoyment, and they will provide all the required safety equipment. There is not a restroom at the boat rental building, however, so be sure to use the facilities in the resort before heading out on the dock. We enjoyed a weekday rental and had a blast….

As the temperature rose to its full 89°, we walked out on the long floating dock and climbed aboard the perfectly clean deck boat. Friendly staff greeted us and even helped us load our cooler and personal belongings. We were given a brief review of the features of the boat and safety requirements, and then we were on our way for a full afternoon to cruise around beautiful Lake Monroe.

Friendly Staff to Help Load

The rocky shoreline contrasted with the bright green trees was truly spectacular. We appreciated that the water’s edge was, for the most part, undisturbed, and we could watch the variety of water fowl. We spotted several herons, ducks, and geese fishing, swimming and roosting.

Nestled within the sprawling green foliage along the coast, an occasional roof top or balcony deck would appear. These homes/resorts were quite beautiful and added some variety to the natural setting. We also noticed several boat launching ramps, campsites, and the sail boating association club. Of course, the sandy beaches with swimming areas marked were visible from the boat as well.

The deck boat was partially covered, so we could get out of the full sun when we needed a break. Cruising along kept a nice breeze blowing though, which made the heat more bearable. Plenty of storage compartments kept our personal items from blowing overboard. In addition, the lake had several “idle only” areas where we could pull to the side and float comfortably without being tossed around by the waves. This was particularly nice when we just wanted to relax in the sun or go swimming for a while.

After several fun-filled hours, we returned to the dock and the staff guided us into our bay. They were friendly and helpful when we disembarked as well. We had a wonderful day and would recommend without hesitation adding a boat rental to your time at Monroe Lake.

To wrap up our Monroe Lake time, we ate dinner at Scenic View Restaurant. We feasted on a delicious four-course meal: shrimp cocktail appetizer, crisp salads, delectable main course, and scrumptious dessert! Their outside seating allowed us to overlook the beautiful water as we indulged and the service was excellent.  As if the food isn’t enough, live music on Friday and Saturday nights are an additional reason to include Scenic View Restaurant into your plans.
