Army Corps Office is located at the dam and provides fascinating information on the history of the reservoir, complete with pictures. Also gives conditions of the lake and any important information you need to enjoy
your time to the fullest. Staff is friendly and helpful, willing to assist you in any way they can as you vacation at beautiful Salamonie Lake. Your time is well spent in stopping in the Army Corps office.
Modern restrooms are located throughout the area, including a facility at the dam. Flush toilets and a water fountain provide relief to visitors.
Also at the dam is an observation deck to overlook the area. Great view of the steep incline on the back of the dam. I got to see local athletes building their endurance as their coach encouraged them to run to the top. Impressive to say the least.
Nice shelter with picnic tables and a grill is available for your group to conveniently prepare and enjoy a meal under cover. Large grassy area for throwing a frisbee or kicking around a ball.
There is also an area with several open-air picnic tables and grills. With the large playground nearby, it is a great spot to have a leisurely conversation while the children burn up energy and have a fun time. All the equipment is in good shape and designed for
use. There is even a basketball hoop in the parking lot. It would be an excellent location for large gatherings as there is lots of shade and plenty to do.
On the lower side of the dam, there is a large shelter with a grill and many picnic tables. Restrooms are also located nearby. Again, great design for a large group.
Quite a picturesque view of the river as it flows out of the dam and feeds the Salamonie River.
